Elijah Wood is an American actor, record label owner, and music aficionado. Born in Iowa, Wood began acting as a young child in commercials and television. He got his first major film role when he was 9 years old in Avalon (1990). Since then he has appeared in countless films, including Paradise (1991), Radio Flyer (1992), The Good Son (1993), The Ice Storm (1997), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), and Everything Is Illuminated (2005), as well as lending his voice to Happy Feet (2006) and 9 (2009). However he is best known for his role as Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson.
In addition to acting, Wood is a serious music lover. He has been collecting vinyl for 13 years and formed his own record label, Simian Records, in 2005. Simian Records is the label home to Apples in Stereo and Heloise and the Savoir Faire.
