100's Of 1000's, Millions Of Billions (CD)
Blitzen Trapper
Amoeba Review
Blitzen Trapper explore the sacred on 100's of 1000's, Millions of Billions. Named after a phrase that appears throughout the Buddhist Mahayana sutras, the album was inspired by singer/songwriter Eric Earley’s interest in Buddhist texts and meditation and spurred on by his discovery of some youthful recordings that reignited the spark of his '90s era self. The melodies are warm, inviting '70s rock meets indie, with a dash of psychedelia thrown in. The lyrics are fascinating — small worlds in and of themselves, the songs tell tales of vampires disenchanted with eternal life, a metal drummer pining for his lost love, and rebirths of all kinds. A heartfelt intriguing work.
