72 Seasons (CD)
Metallica
Amoeba Review
Metallica are back with another hard-hitting punisher, 72 Seasons. The title of the album refers to the first eighteen years of life, in which we build our own concept of self, setting ourselves up to reenact or react to our formative childhood experiences for the rest of our lives. That trapped feeling, of struggling to rise above and not fall victim to our old patterns, is mirrored in the intensity and brutality of the tracks. Yet ultimately the album feels cathartic. 72 Seasons is low on bleak ballads, instead delivering some of the most full-throttle metal in recent memory. Fans will enjoy this beast of an album.
