Twisters (4K UHD)

Lee Isaac Chung

Storm chaser Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones) is still haunted by her last tornado experience, but at the request of a friend, she finds herself back in the field in Oklahoma, facing off with social media star/daredevil Tyler Owens (Glen Powell) as multiple storms descend in this action-packed thrill-ride.

Like All Before You (CD)

The Voidz

Julian Casablancas continues to evolve his sound on the latest from The Voidz. Like All Before You blends moody post-punk with woozy new wave and retro futurist dance punk. Leaning into his experimental side, Casablancas has created a truly surprising and exciting album, with the songs morphing from New Agey synth soundscapes to Daft Punk-esque vocoder vocals to gloomy goth rock dirges. Like All Before You is dynamic and inventive, exhilarating and astonishing.

What A Relief (CD)

Katie Gavin

Warm, folksy, and wise, Katie Gavin's solo debut What a Relief sees heartbreak as an experience to be lived with and learned from. Gavin, the lead vocalist from MUNA, leans into a different sound here — namely the blend of '90s female-fronted alt-rock and radio country she describes as “Lilith Fair-core." With lyrics that combine fierce independence and courageous vulnerability, you'll hear echoes of indie icons like Ani DiFranco and Fiona Apple, with the freshness and singular perspective Gavin brings to the table. What a Relief does feel like a relief in many ways: this is the type of album that makes you feel like you'll get through your worst days and maybe even look back at them with something like gratitude in the years to come.

Doggystyle [Clear Vinyl] (LP)

Snoop Doggy Dogg

After making his mark on certified hits with Dr. Dre, the D-O-Double-G dropped a bomb on the rap world in 1993, and the rest is history. One of the top rap albums of the '90s, Doggystyle gave us classics like "Gin and Juice," "Who Am I (What's My Name)?," and "Murder Was The Case, and this reissue also features the addition of the track "Gz Up, Hoes Down" for the first time since 1993. This 2LP 30th Anniversary Edition on clear vinyl is a must-have for the casual fan or hip-hop collector.

Skin In The Game (CD)

The Immediate Family

Immediate Family are back with their sizzling second album, Skin in the Game . These legendary backing musicians have worked with an incredible list of who's who in modern music — including Keith Richards, Stevie Nicks, David Crosby, and Joni Mitchell, to name just a few — and now they take center stage. Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Wachtel, Steve Postell, Russ Kunkel, and Leland Sklar deliver scorching, gritty rock 'n' roll meets barroom blues with a dash of classic R&B thrown in. This is down-and-dirty, electrifying rock 'n' roll at its finest.

Sleigher (CD)

Ben Folds

Sleigher is a gift to Ben Folds fans. It's the beloved singer-songwriter's first holiday collection...and it's a milieu that's perfectly suited to Folds' good-natured, mellifluous, cozy voice. These songs feel like a toasty fire to keep the wintry darkness at bay. Folds has spoken about the way Christmas frames the year, serving as a marker of time as we consider the loved ones whose chairs will be empty this year, the little kids who've grown into young adults, and the passages of life in all their bittersweet beauty. He does some unexpected, exquisite covers (no painfully trodden ground here) but mostly felt inspired to write new tracks, resplendent in their relatability, hope, and appreciation for the way the holidays make us take stock of what's really special in our day-to-day lives.

Heavy Lifting (CD)

MC5

Detroit proto-punk trailblazers return with their first album since 1971, Heavy Lifting . While it is the return of a version of the band, it will also prove to be their last, as founder and core member Wayne Kramer passed in 2024, after recording had concluded. While the band is represented primarily by Kramer, original drummer Dennis "Machine Gun" Thompson played on two tracks before his passing, also in 2024. Joined by rock royalty like Slash, Vernon Reid, Tom Morello and legendary producer Bob Ezrin, the Motor City 5 hammer down a hard-rockin' bookend to their storied career.

The World Of Kanako (BLU)

Tetsuya Nakashima

The World of Kanako is an uncompromisingly epic thriller about an ex-detective searching for his daughter, Kanako. As he follows a shocking trail of drugs, sex, and violence, he finds himself unprepared for the web of depravity surrounding both Kanako and himself. This film is a nonstop visual and emotional assault to the senses, and not to be missed.

Miracle Focus [Yellow Vinyl] (LP)

Strand Of Oaks

Miracle Focus is an appropriate title for the latest from Strand of Oaks. Written with the goal of simply making people feel good, these layered, gorgeous songs do just that. The miracles in these songs are not biblical in scale or in meaning: they're the simple miracles of everyday life. An album to make you sit up and notice all the good things around you, Miracle Focus is some of Strand of Oaks' finest work and it's sorely needed in our world today.

I Want To Disappear (CD)

The Story So Far

Back with their first album in six years, pop-punk idols The Story So Far have reemerged different but the same. I Want To Disappear marks the departure of founding bassist Kelen Capener, with drummer Ryan Torf handling bass duties on the album. No longer twenty-somethings, this is an older, wiser band, but the potency is still in abundance, and it's evident on high-energy bangers like "Big Blind" and "Watch You Go," while the aforementioned maturity is no more apparent than on the titular album closer, "I Want To Disappear," a lush acoustic ballad sent straight from the heart.

Tigers Blood (LP)

Waxahatchee

Waxahatchee's Tigers Blood finds Katie Crutchfield grappling with addiction issues and lost relationships and coming out on top. Sober since 2018, Crutchfield's songwriting is vulnerable yet bold, gritty yet graceful. Her lilting voice and easy-going Americana melodies bring sunlight to even the darkest corners, as Crutchfield moves from singing of tension and disappointment to belonging and welcome stability. Tigers Blood is summer day music: moving and magical, a moment to rest and survey the beauty in the world around you after the long metaphorical winter.

Picture You Staring [Sky Blue Vinyl] (LP)

TOPS

Ten years on and no one's making contemporary sophistipop like TOPS. In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Picture You Staring , Arbutus Records is releasing a deluxe anniversary LP with a photo zine and party poster, on dreamy sky blue color vinyl. The melodies are swooning and deeply romantic, creating an immersive mood you'll want to get lost in. Singer Jane Penny's voice is delicate and dextrous, the perfect complement for these pastel-hued washes of sound. Picture You Staring is a special record — don't sleep on this one.
