A Common Turn [Translucent Dark Blue Vinyl] (LP)
Anna B Savage
Amoeba Review
Anna B. Savage makes her full-length debut with A Common Turn, highlighting her deep voice with its distinctive vibrato. Occasionally sounding like Linda Perry or Corin Tucker, her dramatic vocals add another layer of depth to these highly personal folk tunes. While "Baby Grand" has the light touch of a Phoebe Bridgers ballad, "Dead Pursuits" is emotional folk/rock with an edge, and "A Common Tern" (almost a title track) is moody and twisty like When The Pawn-era Fiona Apple. Thoughtful and intelligent, Savage croons warmly through this interesting set.
