A New Reality Mind (CD)
Madeline Kenney
Amoeba Review
Madeline Kenney's A New Reality Mind is one of the most interesting indie albums of the summer. Written in response to her partner's sudden and unexplained departure, the album is anything but melancholy; the melodies feel triumphant, the tone is transcendent, and the songwriting finds the artist boldly spreading her wings rather than retreating and playing it safe. Layered vocals give a kaleidoscopic, chorus-like effect, synths create warm washes of textured sound, and guitar riffs of jazz sax feel like a breath of fresh air. This vibrant, lovely, and exciting album might just make Madeline Kenney your new favorite artist.
