A Study Of Losses [Blue Vinyl] (LP)
Beirut
Amoeba Review
Beirut is back with the beautiful, melancholic A Study of Losses. Commissioned by the Swedish circus Kompani Giraff and inspired by German author Judith Schalansky's book An Inventory of Losses, it's a richly textured, evocative, moving collection of songs. Zach Condon utilizes strings, a harpsichord, ukulele, horns, and electronic flourishes to add vivacity to these meditative, sometimes elegiac pieces. A Study of Losses feels warm and comforting in spite of its heavy themes, the type of album that will serve as a companion, revealing more and more depth with each listen.
