Barbara (CD)
Barrie
Amoeba Review
Barrie’s sophomore album, Barbara, is a multi-faceted jewel. Songwriter/producer Barrie Lindsay explores the paradoxical experience of falling in love while dealing with immense grief; during the process of writing the album, she met her now-wife and moved home to be closer to her father as he dealt with worsening lung cancer. The songs are rich in feeling as she traverses differing emotional territories, the melodies switching from ‘80s style synth numbers to dreamy ballads to woozy electro-pop. Heartfelt and hopeful, Barbara weaves a rich tapestry from the joy and pain of being alive.
