Blame It All On Love [Opaque Yellow Vinyl] (LP)
Poolside
Amoeba Review
How does Poolside make bad times sound so good? On their latest, Blame It All On Love, an ever-present thread of melancholy runs beneath the songs, adding emotional immediacy to balmy Balearic beats, early '00s indie dance, and laidback '70s style yacht rock. Poolside producer/mastermind Jeffrey Paradise teamed up with dream pop act Vansire to make this sun-dappled, grooved-out ode to love lost and found: It's a match made in indie pop heaven. The hazy, daytime disco melodies make this album an easy-to-love moodsetter, while the yearning lyrics make the tracks addictive in that singular "hurts so good" way. A lush, lovely, and lovelorn record.
