Blue Rev (CD)
Alvvays
Amoeba Review
Alvvays' third studio album, Blue Rev, finds them pushing for stronger dynamics in their dreamy indie rock sound. Singer Molly Rankin's sweetly soaring melodies are reinforced by plenty of shoegazey fuzz and guitar crunch, for example on "Belinda Says" which also features an exhilarating outro. There are welcome elements of power-pop and jangle-pop throughout these well-written songs, notably on "Easy On Your Own?" and "After The Earthquake."
