Blues Without You (CD)
Larry McCray
Amoeba Review
Blues guitarist Larry McCray drops his first new album in seven years, Blues Without You, which was produced by Joe Bonamassa and fellow artist Josh Smith. With guest appearances from Warren Haynes, Joanna Connor, and Reese Wynans, the album offers upbeat, fiery numbers with down-to-earth lyrics on subjects like McCray’s rural childhood (“Arkansas”) and the distressing state of the world (“Breaking News” - “the future keeps on getting darker and I can’t go to sleep at night, have mercy”). “Run” features crunchy riffs and also showcases McCray’s strong vocals.
