Adrian Quesada’s Boleros Psicodélicos has to be one of the year’s most intriguing releases. The Black Plumas co-founder has crafted an all-killer, no-filler collection of tracks inspired by ‘60s and ‘70s era balada music, with appearances by erstwhile Calle 13 member iLe, Gaby Moreno, Gabriel Garzón-Montano, Girl Ultra, Angelica Garcia, Marc Ribot, and Money Mark. The tunes are atmospheric and evocative; close your eyes and you’re transported to a smoky, sultry nightclub where the temps are hot and the funked out grooves are even hotter. Dreamy, delirious, and delightful.
