Bonniwell Music Machine [180 Gram Vinyl] (LP)
The Music Machine
Amoeba Review
Tiffany Anders 07/07/2010
After the success of The Music Machine’s hit “Talk Talk,” the group embarked on a U.S. tour. Upon their return, four of the members (Ron Edgar, Mark Landon, Keith Olsen, and Doug Rhodes) left the group due to internal conflict. The group was signed to Warner Bros. in 1967, and with only primary member Sean Bonniwell remaining, the group’s name was changed to The Bonniwell Music Machine. This self-titled release contains several previously recorded singles with the original line-up as well as solo material from Bonniwell, making for a bit of an uneven listen but still a very satisfying one. Some of the group’s best tracks can be found on this release like “Dark White,” the groovy “King Mixer,” and the more psychedelic rather than straight-up garage of “Tell Me What Ya Got.” This album is essential listening for fans of psychedelic/garage rock and fans should be no less than enthralled by it.
