Butterfly 3000 (CD)
King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard
Amoeba Review
If you’re as prolific as King Gizzard, you’ve pretty much got to keep evolving, which is what the inimitable Melbourne-based band does so well on their 18th studio album, Butterfly 3000. On this latest effort, the heavy psych of releases past has morphed into something unexpected, something weirder, with loopy synths and prog-like freakouts. The sound is absorbing and almost cinematic, constantly shifting and gleefully punching through any listener expectations. It’s deeply weird and that’s just the way King Gizzard fans like it.
