Cavalcade (CD)
black midi
Amoeba Review
Black midi’s Cavalcade is a prog-rock-influenced odyssey into strange new sonic worlds. Whereas the band’s much-loved debut, 2019’s Schlagenheim came together through a largely improvisatory approach, their excellent sophomore album finds the band carefully crafting their songwriting and storytelling. And boy, does it work. Cavalcade is a rollicking, hypnotic, medieval-feeling epic, a sort of hero’s journey into darker musical realms that should appeal to fans of prog, experimental, and noise.
