Celebrants (CD)
Nickel Creek
Amoeba Review
After nine years, Nickel Creek is back with the remarkable Celebrants. It was worth the wait because this is some of their finest work to date. The harmonies on "Strangers" are beguiling and almost painfully beautiful; when the keening guitar and soaring fiddle kick in, the combined effect is indescribably lovely. On "Holding Pattern," the mood is quieter and more intimate; as befits the lyrics, the song conveys comfort and celebrates finding moments of light even in times of stasis and anxiety. Every so often an album comes along that revives your faith in music. For bluegrass fans, this will surely be one.
