Los Angeles-based Marina Allen makes her album debut with Centrifics, a collection of highly accessible singer/songwriter reflections. Allen’s voice moves suddenly from direct and talky to light and airy within a single line, often bringing in understated layers of emotion. Gentle songs like “Or Else” and “Superreality” reveal strong ‘60s folk influences, much like her previous EP Candlepower, with deft nods to current indie folk.
