Cheap Queen (CD)
King Princess

King Princess’s debut, Cheap Queen, is a starmaker. It’s smart, stylish pop with indie roots; the tracks are catchy as hell and very now, all while channeling a rather retro vibe. That’s partly due to the famous friends King Princess brought along for the ride: Mark Ronson, Tobias Jesso, and the Dap-Kings all contribute. Of course, it’s also due to the raw talent and boundary-pushing sensibilities of King Princess herself. Yes, she’s well-connected but she also possesses a real magnetism and creative drive that should be deeply compelling to fans of both radio-friendly hits and indie pop alike.
