Classic Objects [Blue Vinyl] (LP)
Jenny Hval
Amoeba Review
By now we’re all familiar with the concept of the “pandemic album.” How an artist chooses to interrogate those lockdown days will vary, but it’s probably no surprise that the fearless Jenny Hval takes a look at those strange days with unflinching honest and intellectual curiosity. Classic Objects finds Hval writing songs that explore the concept of personality and art as a construct; the result is a more straight-forward, sparse album than ever before. She calls them “simple stories” but listeners will find much to reward them as they immerse themselves in these heartfelt, heavy-hitting tunes.
