Amoeba Review

Claude Fontaine's soft croon on her first single “Cry For Another” set a clear tone for the reggae and world fusion stylings of her fastidious debut record, which benefits from collaborators like Ziggy Marley, Sergio Mendes, Ronnie McQueen and Gal Costa. On “Pretending He Was You,” that same hushed voice floats over a bossa nova arrangement; “Hot Tears” is another slick reggae tune while the sugary “I'll Play The Fool” returns to Brazil, everything as retro stylish as yé-yé singers globehopping on Pan Am flights.
