Originally released fifty (fifty!) years ago, Tom Waits' now legendary Closing Time is getting reissued on both black 180-gram and clear double vinyl. Courtesy of ANTI-, the reissue wax was cut at 45rpm with half-speed mastering by London's Abbey Road Studios, and packaged in a gatefold jacket with lyrics. Fusing jazz, lounge, and folk elements, the songs sound as fresh and fascinating as they first did in 1973. This warm, wry album is a classic for a reason, and its fiftieth anniversary is certainly worthy of celebration. Take another listen, or take your first, and get ready to fall in love with Closing Time.
