Concession Stand Girl [Red Vinyl] (LP)
Naomi Alligator
Amoeba Review
Folk-pop singer/songwriter Corrinne James AKA Naomi Alligator makes her Carpark debut with the charming EP Concession Stand Girl. James deliberately skews her vocals awkward and flat for the teenage narrator of the title track, so it immediately calls to mind Kimya Dawson and The Moldy Peaches, but “Anywhere Else” is a standout, lovely track that sounds a bit like early Ingrid Michaelson. James’ clever songwriting and pleasing vocals transcend the limits of indie folk and make her an artist to watch.
