Titled after his real name, the new album by British electronic artist Actress consists of one 54-minute track that is a full immersion into another world. Layered, looping, swirling with atmosphere, and interspersed with voices and crackling sound effects, the piece is fascinatingly surreal and dynamic. There is darkness here as well as sublime dreaminess, grit and fuzz going hand in hand, until the ending turns gently ominous and a female voice murmurs “C’est la vie” before the fadeout.
