Dearly Beloved (CD)
Daughtry
Amoeba Review
Chris Daughtry revives his original guitar-driven style for new album Dearly Beloved, while still maintaining the pop sensibilities of his two most recent releases. The songwriting remains strongly melodic and structured around hooks, but tracks like "Heavy Is The Crown" and "Asylum" boast a wall of nu-metal sounding guitar, creating dramatic contrasts that add atmosphere to these accessible tunes. Elsewhere, "Cry For Help" is a smooth ballad and "Break Into My Heart" is a mournful piano closer, proving that Daughtry knows how to capture the ears of a wide range of listeners.
