Dharmaland (LP)
Ìxtahuele
Amoeba Review
Ìxtahuele’s Dharmaland is a long-lost gem of exotica reborn. Originally composed by American recording artist eden ahbez (creator of the legendary track “Nature Boy”), this new release was arranged and performed by Gothenburg, Sweden modern exotica purveyors Ìxtahuele, from ahbez’s unrecorded sheet music. The new recording features the composer’s handmade drums and bamboo flutes, with an impressive cast of collaborators that includes former friends and associates of ahbez himself as well as contemporary performers Kadhja Bonet, Xenia Kriisin, and King Kukulele. Dreamy, experimental, and transportive, Dharmaland is both an enjoyable throwback and a breath of fresh air.
