Dies Occidendum (CD)
DJ Muggs The Black Goat
Amoeba Review
Legendary producer of Cypress Hill among others, DJ Muggs has released a new record of dark, psychedelic instrumentals flavored with hip hop and trap, and sampled dialogue. The excellent "Nigrum Mortem," with its pulsing, doomsday guitar, is the perfect soundtrack to a gothic thriller. "The Chosen One" is equally creepy but more spaced-out and beat-laden; one can imagine an MC on this one, but it's totally not necessary. Dies Occidendum stands on its own as a unique collection of sonic moods and conjured visuals.
