Don't Forget Me (CD)
Maggie Rogers
Amoeba Review
Maggie Rogers gets introspective and intimate on Don't Forget Me. The singer-songwriter moves further away from her shimmery indie-pop beginnings, delving into country, folk rock, and Americana sounds that work well with her heartfelt vocals and raw, vulnerable lyrics. The title track is a world-weary country ballad about alienation, faith, and tempered expectations in love. "Sick of Dreaming" is catchy yet downbeat, a smart and satisfying chronicle of romantic disenchantment. The all-too-relatable, emotionally affecting Don't Forget Me is some of Rogers' best work.
