Dropout Boogie (CD)
The Black Keys
Amoeba Review
The Black Keys go harder than ever on Dropout Boogie. Their signature southern blues rock style gets a classic hard rockin’ twist on “Wild Child” while “It Ain’t Over” drips with ridiculously cool throwback soul style. The whole album has the feel of a sultry summer night in the south, rife with passion and with promises of one absolutely killer party. Speaking of parties, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney have assembled a heavy-hitting cast of collaborators for this one, with ZZ Top’s Billy F. Gibbons, Kings of Leon’s Angelo Petraglia, and Reigning Sound’s Greg Cartwright all making contributions. Dropout Boogie is the type of album you can gladly get lost in.
