Early Singles (1981-1982) (CD)
Xmal Deutschland
Amoeba Review
Sacred Bones' new compilation of Xmal Deutschland material captures the band in the period when they were first making a dent in the German music scene, in the moments before they journeyed to England to open for Cocteau Twins and ascended on the road to becoming underground legends. Early Singles is a record of 1981 and 1982, when the band released the now-iconic, banshee-like “Incubus Succubus” as a single. The collection includes the “Schwarze Welt” 7" and its B-sides, "Incubus Succubus" and its B-sides, a live version of "Allien," and Xmal's contribution to an early ZickZack label compilation, "Kälbermarsch." Not just for Xmal completists, Early Singles is a powerful look back at these fierce and fascinating post-punks.
