End Of The Middle (CD)
Richard Dawson
Amoeba Review
Richard Dawson's End of the Middle is one of the most creative, stop-in-your-tracks albums in recent memory. The English folk singer weaves lyrical stories rooted in everyday triumphs and tragedies: a father who was bullied as a child realizes his son is a bully, a wedding guest dealing with mental health issues describes the festive scene. The music itself portrays moments that are jarring and uncertain, intimate and sweet, all while maintaining the homey, lovely atmosphere Dawson conjures mainly through guitar and voice. End of the Middle is a singular record, at times a chronicle, an examination or a celebration of a multigenerational, average family doing their best to get by.
