End Of World [Red Vinyl] (LP)
Public Image LTD
Amoeba Review
End Of World is the first new album from Public Image Ltd. in eight years and it's a rip-roaring good time right out the gate. "Penge" sounds like a classic slice of PiL post-punk, a dubious ode to the SE London suburb with droll lyrics and driving percussion. "Car Chase" is a dark, danceable groove, with nihilistic vocals and doom-laden riffs. "Hawaii" feels languid and lovelorn as a honeymoon viewed through the haze of the years; it's a moving tribute to frontman John Lydon's late wife Nora Forster. End of World is an excellent addition to the legendary band's catalog.
