Faltering Light [Blue Vinyl] (LP)
Haunted Shed
Amoeba Review
Etienne De Rocher's debut album as Haunted Shed features lively, intriguing songs with some elements of early 2000s indie rock - like on "Christmas Store" and "Old Joy" - but also many eclectic threads, including '80s New Wave and early R.E.M. There's an erratic energy to songs like "Collections," and then lovely space and melody in tracks like "Impending Machines," while "Umami Bomb" expertly combines the two moods. Featuring Dan Nettles (Kenosha Kid), Joe Rowe (The Glands) and Jacob Morris (Vic Chesnutt, Patterson Hood), these are well-written and impressively arranged gems that make for a stirring debut.
