Five Easy Hot Dogs (CD)
Mac DeMarco
Amoeba Review
The king of lo-fi weirdo rock moves into unexpected but exhilarating territory on Five Easy Hot Dogs. The inspiration behind the album was simple: drive north from Los Angeles, and don’t stop until a record took shape. Perhaps fittingly, Mac DeMarco found himself on an artistic and stylistic journey, too, creating ambient instrumental tracks (with a bit of soft rock panache) that fall far outside his persona as an artist but that definitely still feel like a logical extension of his talents. Five Easy Hot Dogs is a fantastic showcase for the multi-faceted DeMarco.
