Stella Donnelly’s knack for wry observations on human nature continues on her second album, Flood. With her light, conversational voice, she examines unhappy relationships, roommates, her grandmother, and even just humanity’s daily struggles - for example on “How Was Your Day,” a lively track with spoken verses and a pretty chorus. “Lungs” gets a little edgier with its propulsive rhythms while “Medals” steers things back to the indie pop at which Donnelly excels.
