FLOWERS for VASES / descansos (LP)
Hayley Williams
Amoeba Review
Paramore’s Hayley Williams moves into unexpected territory on her surprise solo album, FLOWERS for VASES / descansos. Sparse, soft and introspective, the album seems to have more in common with atmospheric ‘70s folk than her former band’s in-your-face pop-punk. Williams’ songwriting finds power in stillness and authenticity in her lyrics’ stripped-down explorations of love and loss. This is probably one of the biggest, and most intriguing, musical reinventions in recent memory and should bring a whole new segment of fans to Williams’ oeuvre. Moving and magnetic.
