Forever Sometimes (LP)
Dear Boy
Amoeba Review
L.A. band Dear Boy’s first full-length album features contributions from AFI’s Hunter Burgan, Passion Pit’s Ian Hultquist, Hazel English and more. The sound is melancholy but often catchy, referencing melodic post-punk, Britpop, and jangle-pop. Singer Ben Grey’s soft voice adds a more modern indie pop touch to the mix, and the band blends its new and old influences well; for example, “Wet Clothes” starts off with a prominent post-punk bassline only to dissolve into swirly indie pop with a hushed chorus.
