Fuse (CD)
Everything But The Girl
Amoeba Review
Everything But The Girl haven't released a new album in twenty-four years. Now they're back with Fuse, which is an absolute stunner, a true emotional banger. "Run a Red Light" is beautifully, blissfully sad; the song captures the feel of those nights when there's no tomorrow, and maybe you don't really want there to be. "No One Knows We're Dancing" is similarly bittersweet and tender, an ode to those small moments in life ("It's 5pm on Sunday/No one knows we're dancing") that seem meaningless and silly but actually end up being the most meaningful. "Caution to the Wind" is in the same vein of delicious melancholy, but with an electrifying crescendo of disco and house elements that make the song hit all the harder. Fuse updates an iconic band's beloved sound for the modern era of music and it is so, so, so good.
