Gece [Creme Vinyl] (LP)
Altin Gün
Amoeba Review

On their sophomore album, Gece, Altin Gün purvey fuzzed-out, funky Anatolian rock with a lively underground edge. The Amsterdam-based group draws inspiration from the East-Meets-West fusion of early Turkish innovators Selda Ba?can, Bari? Manço, Erkin Koray, and especially Ne?et Erta? whose work is the foundation for many of their psychedelic takes on classic folk tunes. There are disco rhythms, a rainbow of synths, an electric saz (similar to a lute, if you know what a lute is similar to), and loads and loads of reverb. Utterly captivating and totally cosmic, Gece should end up on multiple year end “best of” lists.
