Hadsel (CD)
Beirut
Amoeba Review
Hadsel is the first new album from Beirut since 2019's Gallipoli. Recorded on the Norse island of Hadsel inside an old wooden church, surrounded by mountains and fjords, in a season of little light and lengthy, dreamy twilights, the album feels imbued with a sense of place. Tonally, the album conveys a sense of warmth within deepest winter, with rhythms from around the world, Zach Condon's lilting vocals, and soaring melodies that seem to touch upon the sacred. Head into winter with this hygge-rich album and revel in its beauty, comfort, and exquisite storytelling.
