Handfuls Of Night [Clear Vinyl] (LP)
Penguin Cafe
Amoeba Review

Inspired by the Antarctic region, Penguin Cafe’s Handfuls of Night began life as a commission for Greenpeace. Richly rendered in cinematic hues, the project was intended to bring awareness to the plight of the threatened Antarctic sea and four species of penguin that call it home. It’s no surprise, then, that the songs here are ambient and majestic, glacial and stirring. Featuring a vibrant sonic palette consisting of violins, viola, cello, bass, percussion, piano, synth, and harmonium, Handfuls of Night is compelling and deeply moving.
