Happiness Bastards (CD)
The Black Crowes
Amoeba Review
The Black Crowes return with their first album of new material since 2009. Happiness Bastards is a true rock 'n' roll stomper, with hot Southern licks, bluesy atmospherics, and gospel-inflected harmonies. Lead singles "Wanting and Waiting" and "Cross Your Fingers" are rip-roaring, fierce, and fun while Lainey Wilson's appearance on "Wilted Rose" sounds like a forgotten 1970s classic. Some albums just make you believe in the power of music again — that's Happiness Bastards.
