Harm's Way (CD)
Ducks Ltd.
Amoeba Review
On Harm's Way, Toronto's Ducks Ltd. take challenging emotions and situations and transform them into warm, invigorating jangle pop tracks. The bittersweetness of the lyrics adds a subtle bite to these lovely, wistful melodies. "Hollowed Out" opens the album with compelling post-punk guitars and catchy, downbeat lyrics about a disintegrating relationship. "Heavy Bag" closes Harm's Way with quiet melancholy, the sonic equivalent of a late December afternoon when the snow is dirty and it feels like the sun will never come out again. Harm's Way is the type of album that reveals new dimensions with every listen, the type of album that feels like a day spent with an old friend.
