Heart Of The Artichoke (LP)
Bloomsday
Amoeba Review
Bloomsday's Heart of the Artichoke is a lovely, life-affirming, joyful collection of songs. Recorded in upstate NY with a large cast of collaborators, Iris James Garrison and her crew spent their time outside of the studio enjoying large dinners and sitting around bonfires. That sense of the beauty of everyday life, that warmth and playfulness can be felt throughout the record. Heartfelt and upbeat in spite of all the ups and downs of existence, these gem-like songs are about being haunted by the past and finding grounding in the present. It's an album about living, healing, and doing your best...and it's one of the best indie folk albums this year.
