Heaven (CD)
The Walkmen
Amoeba Review
Marles Barkley, Hollywood 09/02/2012
With each album, their distinct sound has evolved, matured, and forged ahead. If you want Ham screaming, you can check out any of their first five albums. On Heaven, they really lock into an incredibly elegant aesthetic that showcases Ham’s increased vocal capacity while still maintaining the band’s signature sound.
Zy-Duh!, Hollywood 09/01/2012
Just as dramatic as ever, but they’re exploring a softer side. You can see how their albums progressed from talking about bar fights to having the band and the whole family on the back cover. It’s nice to see the Philadelphia-New York-Boston-Washington band taking risks in a lovely direction.
