Amoeba Review
Detroit proto-punk trailblazers return with their first album since 1971, Heavy Lifting. While it is the return of a version of the band, it will also prove to be their last, as founder and core member Wayne Kramer passed in 2024, after recording had concluded. While the band is represented primarily by Kramer, original drummer Dennis "Machine Gun" Thompson played on two tracks before his passing, also in 2024. Joined by rock royalty like Slash, Vernon Reid, Tom Morello and legendary producer Bob Ezrin, the Motor City 5 hammer down a hard-rockin' bookend to their storied career.
