Hildegard (LP)
Hildegard
Amoeba Review
Montreal experimentalists Hildegard build their own self-contained musical world on their gorgeous self-titled debut. Distant, haunting vocals are layered over tense electronic beats and soft washes of sound, each song naturally setting up the next while maintaining their own distinct flavor and feel. The effect is hypnotic and addictive, the songs at times gleefully crossing the line from daydreamy beauty to disconcerting atmospherics. Hildegard is definitely a band to watch, especially for fans of left-of-center electronic, avant-garde, and post-punk.
