Homemade (LP)
Andrew Gabbard
Amoeba Review
Andrew Gabbard’s Homemade should be a game changer for the Ohio artist. Although this is his first album under his own name, he’s already well-known for his work with Thee Shams, The Buffalo Killers, The Gabbard Brothers, and as a member of The Black Keys’ touring band. That track record shows in his work on Homemade; Gabbard is clearly an artist operating at the top of his game, effortlessly creating a lived-in, alt-country sound from psych, garage, and indie influences. Each track on the album stands on its own and sounds radio-ready for an idyllic ‘70s summer in the country. Evocative and exciting, this is one release you do not want to sleep on.
