On Honest Labour, Space Afrika once again proves themselves to be one of the most interesting acts in the electronic space today. This lush, layered album was created long distance style, with co-founders Joshua Inyang and Joshua Reid living separately in Manchester and Berlin last year during the height of the pandemic winter. As they shared files and pieced together loops with found sound recording, the shape of the album began to emerge. It’s introspective and raw, restless and dreamy—moods born from intense isolation and disconnection, and our search to come together once again. Beautiful, occasionally unsettling, and powerful.
