Beach Bunny just might be your favorite new band. On Honeymoon, band leader Lili Trifilio gets vulnerable, singing compact garage-pop numbers about the trials and triumphs of contemporary young womanhood. Beach Bunny’s songs are eminently relatable: they’re clever and introspective, raw and refreshing. Trifilio seems incapable of any form of rock ’n’ roll affectation and on Honeymoon, she’s not just wearing her heart on her sleeve, she’s holding it up to the world to see and to hopefully, understand. Beach Bunny has a no-holds-barred authenticity that deserves to be celebrated in a music landscape packed with soulless, glossy pop. Throw this record on and see why the band’s attracting more and more buzz with each outing.
