Horizons/East (CD)
Thrice
Amoeba Review
Thrice’s Horizons/East opens on an evocative, stirring note (“The Color of the Sky”) and does not let up over the course of this ten impressive tracks. The band moves from moody synths to classic alt-rock intensity to rough-and-tumble post-hardcore heaviness as the album progresses. Intensity is the one constant, bubbling up beneath the melodies, inherent in the growling vocals of frontman Dustin Kensrue. It’s a powerful listening experience filled with moments of brutal beauty and genre-defying songwriting. Essential listening.
